Tropical Storm Imelda Floods Texas area
Tropical Storm Imelda unleashed torrential rain Thursday in parts of Texas and Louisiana, which prompted hundreds of water rescues, a hospital evacuation and road closures. The storm left at least two people dead Thursday, according to local media.
The powerful storm system is drawing comparisons to Hurricane Harvey two years ago.
Officials in Harris County, which includes Houston, said there had been a combination of at least 1,000 high-water rescues and evacuations to get people to shelter, in anticipation of the lingering threat. Forecasters say some places could see 40 inches or more this week. More than 900 flights were canceled or delayed in Houston. (AP)
