Boris Johnson asks Queen to suspend parliament | Times News

Boris Johnson is set to suspend parliament before a new Queen’s Speech on October 14 in a move that will frustrate attempts by Tory rebels and opposition parties to stop a no-deal Brexit.
The Queen, who is currently in Balmoral, will be asked to agree to prorogue parliament during a meeting of the privy council today at her Scottish residence.
It means that the conference recess, which begins on September 13, will effectively be extended by a week, limiting the opportunity for Tory rebels and opposition parties to force Mr Johnson to extend Article 50.
