Nepal is to introduce tough restrictions for first-time climbers on Mount Everest, barring those without experience at high altitude as it seeks to avoid a repeat of this year’s chaotic and deadly spring season.

The move follows widespread calls to ban climbers without basic skills after 11 people died on Everest this year amid chronic overcrowding at the summit.
