Philadelphia Shooting Suspect Surrenders After Standoff with Police

A gunman who opened fire on police, Wednesday, August 14, as they were serving a drug warrant in Philadelphia, is in police custody, authorities said. The gunman wounded six officers and triggered a six-hour standoff that extended into the night,
Philadelphia police Sergeant Eric Gripp said early Thursday morning.

The shooting began about 4:30 p.m. local time as officers went to a home in a north Philadelphia neighborhood to serve a narcotics warrant in an operation that went awry almost immediately, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said. (AP)
