South Koreans protest outside Japanese embassy, demand apology for ‘comfort women’

Top officials from Japan and South Korea would meet this week to discuss the issue of forced labour during World War II. The emotional issue led to a trade row between the neighbours in recent weeks. On Aug 14, over a thousand people rallied outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul,
demanding Japan apologise for its treatment of “comfort women” who were forced to work in
wartime brothels.
