Michael Jackson’s 10th death anniversary, some interesting facts about the ‘King of Pop’

“King of Pop” Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana of United States. At the age of five, he joined his siblings pop band and later emerged as the group’s lead vocalist in Jackson 5. In 1983 he performed his No. 1 hit “Billie Jean” and debuted his famous dance move, the Moonwalk on a television show. The moonwalk was picked up from street dancers. Jackson was very fond of Mexican food. He had a rare skin disease called vitiligo which caused him to lose pigmentation on his skin. The album ‘Thriller’ sold an estimated 50 million worldwide. The other albums ‘Bad’ and ‘Dangerous’ were also among the world’s best-selling records. In 1984, his face and scalp were burned while filming for a commercial. He had surgery to repair his injuries and is believed to have begun experimenting with plastic surgery around this time. He won 13 Grammy Awards. In 1993, an allegation of child molestation emerged against him. Jackson’s reputation was effectively destroyed and his finances were in shambles. On June 25, 2009, he suffered cardiac arrest from an overdose of a drug at the age of 50.
