Boris Johnson leads race to replace Teresa May after first-round vote
Boris Johnson easily won the first round vote by Tory members of the UK parliament that eliminated three of the ten candidates standing to replace former Tory leader and current Prime Minister Teresa May.
Three of the ten candidates standing to replace former Tory leader and current Prime Minister Teresa May were eliminated after failing to get the required backing of at least 17 votes.
Johnson got 114 votes while Jeremy Hunt, his nearest rival, got 43 votes.
The MPs will continue to hold votes until only two candidates are left and then the wider Conservative Party membership will vote to elect their party leader and prime minister.
